About Us

Nestled in fertile farmland in California’s San Joaquin Valley, our two-acre rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary is home to 12 unique animal species. Our life-saving animal protection efforts are focused primarily on rabbits and birds.

Our mission is to provide life-long care for our rescued animals, and to educate the public about humane animal care and practices. We rehabilitate, both physically and psychologically, mistreated animals and, if possible, we will find appropriate homes for them. In an effort to prevent further cruelty to these animals, we educate the public on caring for companion animals as well as on issues concerning farmed animals.

In 2004, Stockton’s Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary was established by longtime animal protection advocates, Karen Courtemanche and Annemarie Engelhardt. Our sanctuary incorporated as a nonprofit in May 2005, and our 501(c)3 tax-exempt status was confirmed by the IRS in August 2006. Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit and donations are tax-deductible. Our Federal Tax ID No. is 56-2515797.
